Strategic Planning: A Three-Stage Process

1) Pre-Retreat

We work directly with you to efficiently understand the pressing needs, and the would-be-good-to-have wants faced by the organization prior to the retreat. Working together, a custom-tailored agenda is created, and all the necessary details are quickly and easily taken care of in advance.

2) Retreat

A energetic and engaging process that creates a safe place for powerful dialogue, aha moments, and of course laughter. While strategic planning is serious business, we don't have to be serious all of the time. For a two-day retreat, Day One is the foundational day, focusing on everything from the organization' past, a health focus on your clients, and of course the all-important SWOT analysis. Day Two builds a solid framework of strategies and S.M.A.R.T. goals on-top of the foundation from Day One. Clients are usually pretty tired after the two days, but they are oh so satisfied with the excellent effort and work that was accomplished.

3) Post-Retreat

We feel it's important to ensure our clients have their Strategic Plans back in their hands as quickly as possible after the retreat, that way the experience and memories are fresh in the minds of all who participated. We work directly with you over the seven business days post-retreat, ensuring you approve of the final document ASAP.

“Thank you Matt for the wonderful job in getting us to our 3 year strategic plan. The planning retreat with staff, leadership and the board, and the follow up process, were the best I have ever been through. The retreat was a combination of hard work and fun – an excellent balance that kept us on track. Your grasp of the issues helped guide us through a productive SWOT analysis and subsequent strategies. Most importantly, the process and plan made all participants feel their voice had been heard and appreciated. We look forward to working with you for the next two years and the “check ins” on our progress.”

Christine Burton, Board Chair, Wood Buffalo Wellness Society

“My organization engaged Matt as a consultant to assist with a quick turn around on an Organizational Strategic Plan. Due to a health concern, I was off work as the Executive Director for a three month period and was able to hire Matt to turn our notes and ideas into a solid plan for the future of our organization. Matt listened beautifully, interpreted accurately and delivered a quality product. We will absolutely hire Matt in the future.”

Karen Gallagher-Burt, Executive Director, Hillhurst Sunnyside Community Association (HSCA)

"Human Elements provided us with a professional, comfortable, relaxing atmosphere for our event. Matt had a way of recognizing the different personality types in the room; he was knowledgeable and professional but entertaining and engaged all individuals to participate fully."
